Life at Campus

Community, routine and everything around the classroom

On campus there is a real sense of community, helping you build friendships through your studies and your leisure time, in a safe and peaceful environment.

Whatever your recreational, social or sporting interests, there are plenty of opportunities to make friends and enjoy yourself. Student activities give you room to test new ideas, develop leadership skills and build community at Sri Chaitanya.

Visual teaching methods (TV / PPT)

English news channels, Discovery, History and science programming, power-point presentations and selected films are used to keep students current on social, political and economic issues, and to explore them from national and international perspectives.

Internet and Wi-Fi

A well-equipped computer laboratory with unlimited but restricted internet over Wi-Fi. Students are guided towards balanced, comprehensive sources such as Wikipedia, the British Council, Wordsmith and online dictionaries.

Activities hour

Quiz, elocution, extempore, debate, group discussion and talent sessions, alongside skill-building in spoken English and computer orientation — so growth is emotional and psychological as well as academic.

Newspaper reading and current affairs

A dedicated newspaper is given to each student, with a test every fortnight on editorials and current affairs.

Periodic seminars and guest lectures

Seminars by the Dean of the Academy and guest lectures by eminent people from the All India Services and from public life, aimed at shaping young minds into wise future civil servants.

National festivals and days of significance

Independence Day and Republic Day are celebrated on campus, and Teachers’ Day, Children’s Day, Martyrs’ Day and May Day are observed, to build national pride.

Educational tours

Students are taken to places of historical, geographical, cultural and administrative importance, so classroom theory is grounded in practical exposure.

Uniform and identity card

A uniform is worn on certain days of the week and the identity card is carried at all times, to build uniformity and camaraderie among students.

Spoken language on campus

English is promoted as the language of interaction between students and faculty and among students, while the national and regional languages keep their occasional and ceremonial place.

Library

Books, newspapers, journals and periodicals across every sphere of knowledge, for reference and wider reading around the syllabus.

Physical activity

Yoga, along with outdoor and indoor games, in enough volume to complement the demands of study.

Study material

Material prepared by experienced subject experts covering the whole UPSC syllabus in lucid language, with current-affairs booklets issued every month.

Tests and examinations

Periodic tests in both academic and competitive subjects, because testing completes the learning process and shows where corrective work is needed.

SPAC — Student Performance Appraisal Card

Academic performance, feedback and relevant personal circumstances are recorded on the appraisal card and shared with everyone concerned, so counselling is timely and specific.
